Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Frankfort Restaurant Association ("we", "us") collects on frankfortra.com, how we use it and the choices you have. Questions? Email contact@frankfortra.com.

Information you give us

When you send the Restaurant/Sponsor Sign-Up form we receive:

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Your message (for example, your business name and how you would like to take part)

You do not need to create an account to use this site, and you can browse every page without giving us any information.

Information sent automatically with the form

So we know how people find us and can stop spam, the form also sends:

  • The page you sent it from and the website that linked you to us, if your browser shares it
  • Campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source), if there were any
  • Your browser and device type, and the country your connection comes from
  • A one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, used only to limit how many messages can be sent from one connection. It cannot be turned back into your IP address and is deleted after 48 hours.

Like every website, our hosting provider also keeps short-term technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and secure the site.

How we use your information

  • To reply to you about Frankfort Restaurant Week, membership, sponsorship and our events
  • To keep a record of sign-ups so nothing gets lost
  • To block spam and abuse of the form
  • To understand, in general terms, how people find the site

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Your sign-up is seen by the Frankfort Restaurant Association team who handle sign-ups. We also use a few service providers who process it for us and only on our instructions:

  • Our website hosting and database provider, which stores the site and the sign-ups
  • Our email delivery provider, which sends each sign-up to our inbox

We may also share information if the law requires it or to protect the safety of our members, visitors or the public.

Cookies and browser storage

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not currently use Google Analytics or any other analytics service.

It may keep two small, temporary notes in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab:

  • The first page you visited and the site that sent you, so a sign-up can show how you found us
  • A timestamp used to reload the page once if the site was updated while you had it open

If we add analytics or similar tools in the future, we will update this policy first.

Maps and links to other websites

The restaurant map is drawn with map tiles from OpenFreeMap, so your browser requests those tiles directly from OpenFreeMap, which receives your IP address as part of that request. We do not send it any other information about you.

This site links to other websites, including restaurant websites and menus, Google Maps (Get Directions), SignUpGenius (volunteering), Facebook and Instagram. When you follow those links, that website's own privacy policy applies.

How long we keep it

We keep sign-ups for as long as we need them to work with you and run our events, then delete them. The hashed IP record used for spam protection is deleted after 48 hours. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

How we protect it

The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Sign-ups are stored in a database that only our website's server can read, and access is limited to the people who need it. No method of sending or storing information online is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Your choices

  • Ask what information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct it or delete it
  • Ask us to stop contacting you

Children

This site is meant for restaurant owners, sponsors and adults planning to visit. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
